Albania is considered to be one of the poorest countries in Europe. Albanian economy has its bases in agriculture focused on growing of corn, sunflower, potato, sugar beet, wheat and grapes. Livestock sector is poorly developed.
The Albanian industry can’t be described as developed either. The main branches of the Albanian industry are oil-refining industry, chemical and mining industry (chromites, iron-nickel ores, brown coal, oil, natural bitumen), non-ferrous and ferrous metallurgy, metal processing and machinery construction.
The main place takes tree-felling, woodworking, paper production. The level of unemployment is very high.
